The U.S. and the Western democracies did not base their immigration policies on religion, and they managed to keep out most Jewish refugees in the 1930`s many of whom died as a result. The Palastinians demanded and got a White Paper in 1939 prohibiting most legal Jewish immigration, and many Jews died as a result of that too.
After Israel was founded, the U.S. and the Western democracies did not take in the hundreds of thousands of Jews from Arab countries in the 1950`s nor did they take in many of the Jews from the Soviet Union who would have liked to have moved there. (The Soviet Jews that were able to get into the U.S. and Westerne Europe went there, and the rest went to Israel.) Israel took in those people. Had Israel not based its immigration policies on those people being Jews, where would they have gone?
Your response may be, "Not my problem" or "They should stop being Jews", but don`t pretend that it`s broad mindedly left. It`s no more on the left than David Duke. |
