I worry that this new party will abandon Meretz`s historic Zionism as it includes noted anti-Zionist Avraham Burg and also A.B. Yehoshua who has advocated the end of Israel`s Jewish character.
If Meretz is to reclaim its stature, it needs to remind people of both its place on the left and committment to peace, but also its committment to Zionism and the Jewish State.
If this new party wants to fall further into irrelevance than even Meretz, it can proceed to adopt Burg and Yehoshua`s views and lose the remainder of its Zionist vote to Labour. |
