| This article is a classic example of Jewish paranoia. Why does Haarezt assume the iranian was talking about Israel? When I heard his speech I (along with all my friends here in Tel Aviv) thbought he was talking about Jordan or Saudi Arabia. Both of those new countries were recently created and both have prolonged the conflict with Israel for their own political reasons. The iranian could not have been referring to Israel because we are an ancient nation. Indeed after the destruction of the First Temple it was a persian king who released us from our captivity in Babylon (modern day iraq) and helped us return to Israel where we rebuilt the Second Temple which was destroyed by the Romans in 70 AD (over 500 years before Islam was even invented). We are a proud and ancient people and I am very proud to be Israeli. Now, I am going to the beach for a surf before Shabbat begins. |
