Yet the same regime also insists that the IDF rules supreme in the West Bank as The Ultimate Authority. Q: Where does that authority come from? A: It comes from the International Humaitarian Laws of Occupation. Q: But doesn`t the regime also argue that those laws don`t apply here? A: Don`t you worry yourself about that.... The IDF commander DOES rule supreme in the West Bank, and that ability to rule must derive from *some* *law* otherwise he is simply a feudal warlord, and his every order is illegal. Benvenisti is correct: Israel is the land where being schizoid has been raised to an art-form. Indeed, it appears to be a prerequisite for higher office: be it military, political, or legal. |
