You are absolutely right about Barak`s excessive statements. They limit his options or make him a liar. In fact, Barak will not have many options. He will not be able to join Bibi`s coalition if he wants to keep Amy Ayalon and Pines Paz in the party, and Bibi will not be able to put together a coalition without Labor unless he sells his soul and state money to all the religious parties. The most likely outcome of the elections will be the status quo, with Livni and Bibi close in the race and Labor joining Livni`s coalition with Meretz. It will be the same as before the elections. But even in case that Bibi would manage to put somehow together a shaky coalition the peace process will proceed. Because of the new international reality led by Obama, the evacuation of settlements is imminent. Bibi does not have the backbone to resist international pressure as has been seen in the past. |
