The political pendulum has swung back. Conflict with Gaza is needed to sway votes.

A week into the truce, the IDF announced a unilateral free-kill zone on the borders. They wounded people and even killed one - all turned out to be unarmed as reported by the IDF. Of course, rockets and mortars were fired in response. Eventually the truce was re-established.

It seems now that the free-kill zone has been reinstated with a twist targeting armed men and with incursions and air power rather than sniper fire. And of course, retaliatory rocket and mortar fire has resulted along with resumption of the blockade on food and fuel for the power plant.

Hell of a campaign tactic.

How long before Egypt re-opens Rafah for humanitarian relief? The EU and UN don`t have to buy Israeli food and fuel for shipment of aid to Gaza. Egypt has food and fuel for sale, too. And Bush`s ability to pressure Egypt has a time limit.
