Former UN High Commissioner for Human Rights recently said she couldn`t believe the world community didn`t care about "the shocking violation of so many human rights". Desmond Tutu and Jimmy Carter have summed up the situation there as abominable. The Hamas leadership has even offered to accept a Palestinian state based on the 67 borders.
Israel`s response has been to literally choke the Palestinians into submission. It has reduced the people of Gaza to surviving on food rations, and by smuggling food and medicine through tunnels.
