Hi Silvienne, you probably witnessed the baptism of a Mormon convert, held in a Mormon chapel.
Mormon baptism is carried out as many millions of other Christian baptisms are - by full immersion. There is nothing sinister or weird in the practice.
You won`t get into a `sacred` Mormon temple unless you are a faithful member and a full TITHING Mormon!
I have never heard of mass baptism for the dead being carried out by Mormons. I thought that was done by proxy with the cooperation of a living Mormon relative.
It is interesting to read of the testimonies of Jewish converts to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
Every Mormon I have ever met, and I have met many, have been clean living, hard working good people...
Cheers. |
