| I was born to a Jewish mother, therefore I am Jewish. Judaism is a matriarchal RELIGION, yes, but due to its inherent genetic link (you can`t become Jewish just by, for example, getting baptized and accepting some messiah) it is also an ethnicity. I, too, Heather, have blue eyes, and once upon a time I had beautiful blond hair. My grandmother called me her "Aryan grandson." But that`s just it: not every "black" person has the same genetic code- many African Americans, for example, have some white ancestry- but they`re still considered part of one giant ethnic grouping because they are all, in general, mostly descended from the same original group of people. My mother`s side was all Jewish, and so I am ethnically (though perhaps more importantly culturally) Jewish. |
