"Mormon temples are off limits to not only non-Mormons, but even to those Mormons who have not been "Endowed." The only exception is just after construction and before consecration when they have an "open house" for the public"
I don`t know what word they called it, but it was like a big modern hall with a hallway and doors leading off it. In the big room was a huge tub of water into which my friend went with a guy who I suppose was baptising her. She went completely under the water-yuck-and came up dripping, what a mess. There were chairs for us all to sit as we watched..this took place in London just before I came to America so that makes it about ten years ago.

Well, sounds like a really tolerant religion, doesn`t it? They won`t let us in their "temple" but they get our death certificates to "baptise" us!
Lucky my friend didn`t last in the "faith". But she said all they were interested in was getting her baptised. |
