| Mark, I have read your eloquent and thoughtful (and typo free) posts for over a year. Why do you cling to the illusion of a two-state solution? Rabin and Peres realize that demography is destiny and that Zionism must carry out a new ethnic cleansing to rid itself of the Arabs that came along with the conquest of the land. The creation of a neutered Palestinian state, destitute and dependent on the West, is the realization of the "supreme Zionist interest", i.e. maximum land, minimum Arabs. It is aparthied by another name. Such a solution is bound to be unstable. Yes, the Jews are entiled to a Hebrew-speaking state and the Arabs, and Arabic one. Given the geographic realities, that can only be realized within the confines of a bi-national entity, with consitutional protections for both peoples. |
