| Here again, as with the article a few days ago about the synagogue in the Old City. We are allowed to reclaim land that was Jewish prior to 1948 inside East Jerusalem and the West Bank, but Palestinians are not allowed to reclaim their lands from before 1948 inside of Israel. This is a hierarchy of privilege based on ethnic identity impossible to find in the Western democracies we seek to include ourselves with. So either let the Al-Kurds have their place, or eliminate the double standard and give Palestinians the same right inside of Israel. Given that this would mean giving up the entire country pretty much, it`s doubtful you`d find much support for the latter. It`s this separation of privilege that leads people to term us an Apartheid state. |
