The palestinian prisoners can see their families, talk to them, be seen by the Red Cross, and are not used to extract ransom. And they are there because of their criminal acts.
Shalit did not commit a crime. He cannot see anybody. He cannot talk to his family. He cannot be visited by the Red Cross although he is a soldier in uniform. He is held for ramsom.
