AVRIANI was the paper that most supported the PASOK party and had several times published articles with a strong antisemitic taint.Its journalistic methods were at times very unfair-during the campaign for the 1989 elections,AVRIANI went as far as publishing a photo showing the leader of the opposition party NEA DIMOKRATIA between two Nazi german soldiers with a footnote that maintained he was a Nazi collaborator.
When the PASOK party lost the elections in March 2004,AVRIANI (whose editor had benefited from this party`s regime and is generally known as somehow opportunist) turned out to show a support for the newly elected party-albeit not a total one.Yet this paper`s antisemitic "taint has not diminished. |
