| First,as some talkbackers here have said,it`s unfair to judge about a nation and country just from a single newspaper.As a Greek Jew,I felt the most offended when I saw this paper`s headline hanging from kiosks to the public`s eyes and imagined what effect this would have on those who so easily prejudice.It is true that most Christian Greeks saved Greek Jews during WW2 (my father was one of those saved) and it is true that the Greek Army (where my father had served as a reserve officer in the engineering corps) defeated the Italian Army and also resisted harshly to the German Army during that war.However,I must point out that from 1981 onwards,when the Socialistic Party (PASOK) won the elections,there had been a strong anti-Israel mentality here;PASOK`s founder Andreas Papandreou was so pro-Palestinian that he called Arafat his "brother". |
