Dave Rich: JEWISH WORLD / What's in a hyphen? How an innocuous mark justifies antisemitism
Talkback

The author complains about attempts to extend the definition of antisemitism -- and then does it himself.

See his reference to Ahmedinejad`s rants against Israel. One can argue that Ahmedinejad is anti-semitic -- but that the author chose him as an example is telling.

One suspects that even as he inveighs against others misusing the term, Rich himself is concerned to conflate anti-Semitism with opposition to Israel.

Incidentally, the actual thesis: that it matters how one spells `anti-Semitic` -- is inane. I spelled it all three possible ways in this post. Did the earth move for you?

Ahmedinejad will become neither more nor less anti-semitic if we take away or insert the hyphen.
