At the time, the Arabs knew it was a graveyard, but since the graves were over 50 years old, they no longer had any significance. this is a cynical attempt by radical Muslims to rewrite history. If they wanted to do right by their ancestors, they would never have sold the cemetery. the entire claim is similar to that of the hassan bek mosque near jaffa, where the Arabs sold the mosque to a Jewish developer, and then feigned horror when he planned to demolish the mosque and build a mall. Both cases reek of the most cynical obfuscation of the facts. |
