| Apparently, Gilad Shalit has ceased to become a person in Israel. He has become a symbol. This happens when your name is used as an adjective rather than a proper noun. Gilad Shalit is halfway down the path once trod by Ron Arad. Hamas has lately had to regenerate some interest by promising a letter from Gilad Shalit to his parents. This announcement was met by a chorus of yawns from Israel. In fact, it seems like there will be no resolution to the "Shalit affair". Gilad Shalit has fallen into that sad catagory of being "forgotten but not gone". At least, not completely gone. Considering this, I don`t see how capturing another IDF man would benefit Hamas. They already have more than they need and the market seems to have dried up. |
