| David, yes it might have been the Famous (?) Spiro T who coined the phrase "effete snobs". I dont remember who it was but for some reason I do remember the phrase. The basis for my assumption is that Hertzlia is the "Beverly Hills" and "90210" of Israel. Its a beach front and a high end neighborhood where most of the diplomats reside together with wealthy israelis and others in "Villas".Its certainly outside the normal Israeli life style. It has also become very trendy in the last few years with high priced restaurants and hotels. Its not the place where you will find the average Israeli living or visiting. You are right one should not make assumptions based on a persons place of residence but Philips constant anti Israel posts fit in with the general tone of the area. Certainly with a lot of the people who live there that I have met. Maybe Philip should go live in "Shikun Daled" in Beersheva and see what his constant negativity will bring from the residents there. |
