| Khaled, our common humanity, seen in the light of all recorded history, which I have attempted to study as time permits, reveals that we have been endowed by our Creator with reason, the prime spokesmen of which can be found in the rolls of the martyrs of all the worlds religions and tyrannies. America, so long as it remains true to its philosophical roots in the Protestant Reformation upon which global freedom of religion was founded (not Ecumenism, but genuine freedom to discuss and to choose one`s faith, respecting that freedom for all others), IS NOT THREATENED BY ISLAM. But it is threatened by its "War on Terror" which unneccessarily provokes Islam, in violation of the spirit of America`s freedom constitution. Paranoia and freedom are antithetical, threatening America`s Constitution, and the positive achievements of global democracy. I do not deny the threats of bigotry and fanaticism globally, but propose that openness, (perestroika), freedom of speech, is more powerful. |
