| The situation right now shows that Obama is over 2/3 the way to winning the necessary number of Electoral Votes, and is certain to go over when California comes in. Still, I would not declare the election `over`. McCain has won the racist South. That will take another generation. When folks my age are dead, the Civil Rights Act will no longer decide elections. It will take a miracle for John McCain to win at this point. Still, I feel for him. I changed my support for the Republican nomination in 2000 from George W. Bush to John McCain. I did at the time of the South Carolina Primaries. McCain was beat. He was out of money, and had no prospect of raising more. Still, Bush felt it necessary to slime him, to lie about McCain, to totally destroy the man. A prudent man would have looked to recruit McCain as a supporter. Bush was only interested in lying about McCain, Bush won. McCain spent the next 8 years betraying those who supported him in 2000 and sucking up to Bush. A mistake. |
