Haaretz Service and News Agencies: President-elect calls on Americans to support 'new spirit of sacrifice'

I stopped by to talk to the election workers at my local precinct (256) earlier today to see how it was going. I was chagrined to have stood in line for an hour last week to vote early with my wife, and could have walked right in at 10 this morning at the Sutton Elementary School polling place.
The pattern seems normal if a turnout is a bit high here in Harris County. Those strongly democrat precincts have lines, and those reliably republican do not. This is a function of the number of working voting machines provided, rather than turnout.

As this state will most certainly go for McCain, the `big` race here is to see if Nick Lampson will hang on to the House seat he picked up in the special election following Tom DeLay`s resignation.

Young turnout is very high, which is a change.
