| Had self-restraint been exercised during the period after 1967 when Shimon Peres supported and encouraged a "Greater Israel" with settlements in the West Bank and Gaza, many human lives would have been saved. President Peres should acknowledge his past mistakes, speak out against the settlements and support a policy of disengagement. This would do a lot towards creating a two-state solution. |
