The problem here is that this Arab student was foolish--he should have known that Peres was coming and "catch the flu". I am not sure if Peres is all that wicked, but his political ambitions are so overreaching that he often is a caricature of himself.
If he was smart, he should have retired, and stayed at home. His wife would have taken the telephone calls and made excuses for him that he was busy "at the office", and, back at the office some young man politician might garner some advice ever so discretely.
Instead, he is your typical Moiseh Groys who spouts platitudes that don`t mean nuthin`.
I yearn for the days of the Yitchak Navon, likely the best president we ever had that I knew, though it is said that Ben-Tzvi was perhaps the finest Zionist, and humane president this country knew--and yeah, he lived in a "cabin" while he served. |
