although i am somewhat convinced by the arguments here am i sceptical as to the quality of the shows they would have been aired on. unfortunately for israel its television is banal, introverted, and sensationalist. although good attempts are being made at creating quality news programs on par with the BBCs Newsnight or CBS`s 60 Minutes, Israel is still not there yet. as such am i in favour of a temporary banning of the amir interviews until some production values have been put into the creation of a factual documentary that nonetheless portrays the interviewee as the sad, deluded, murderer of an israeli hero that he is. that is able to pick up the clues in the interview to hound the rabbis that authorized him to kill rabin. an interview with a madman without context on the eve of the great man he murdered is in bad taste much like an interview with bin laden a few days before 9/11 commemorations would be in equally bad taste |
