One hundred years ago, the liberal utopians who created Israel saw an agrarian nation as it`s foundation.
Even fifty years ago, after those liberal utopians had created Israel, men like David ben Gurion and Yigal Allon saw the NAHAL as the means of reenforcing and building the Israeli state.
Now the liberal utopians who created Israel are gone, and no one has any respect for those things that would have impressed them.
The Kibbutz are being sold off, the nation is industrialized, and the citizens scoff at what their ancestors - for 4,000 years, struggled to achieve. |
