Though I am not old enough to have lived through a war, I did live in London through the IRA bombing campaign. We had to look out for packages left in the street or in buildings, look around on buses, be terrifed walking through stores.
England and the IRA have created a lasting peace now which is admirable, and it happened because both sides wanted peace.
In the case of the Palestinians and Israel, Israel wants the land the Palestinians are living on, and as long as they maintain an illegal occupation in the West Bank there will never be peace.
Israel can have stolen land, or peace and security. Never both, no matter how many Palestinians the IDF kills. |
