| You are right that "Peretz...knew nothing about defence" and that is why he should not have been appointed defence minister. Nobody voted Labor because they wanted Peretz to be defence minister-his whole campaign was based on the demand that he would be finance minister and use the nation`s wealth to help the poor. He could have been finance minister if Labor had been willing to enter a coalition with right wing parties instead of Kadima. That would have avoided the Lebanon war and made it possible to deal with poverty as well. |
