" have a problem with the Syrian claim that it was "warplanes." To me, "warplanes" means fixed-wing aircraft."

And to I.

But not every language discriminates so finely.

Indeed, the common usage in American English regularly describes the `Fighter Jet", yet anyone familiar with correct technical jargon knows the real term is `Jet Fighter`, a left-over from the days 60 years ago when most fighters were piston engined, and the newest, with jet engines, were `jet fighters.`

The aircraft were Blackhawks, probably MH-60K and MH-60L`s or MH-60Gs if the forces were USAF.

The Syrian accounts ring true, and generally coincide with later US reports.

The initial US reports have been discredited by later reports from US sources.

Sounds like the usual `kill them all and let God sort it out` effort which actually managed to kill, before or after arrest, the single target of the operation.

The rest of those folks are honorary terrorists 3rd class, even the woman and kids.
