| After Hamas was voted into Power, Israel went to work, finally embracing Abbas and using him as cats paw against Hamas. Israel also arrested Hamas government officials, placed an embargo against Gaza, and took other steps to throw the Palestinian government into disarray. Israel was largely successful in this undertaking, but sadly, Hamas became the undisputed rulers in Gaza as part of the Israeli efforts. Only the ordinary citizens of Gaza felt any real pain from Israels handiwork. Now we see the Israeli government thrown into disarray. Certainly the Palestinians played no part. Perhaps it was the rule of "do as you would be done by". In any case, with any luck, the Israeli government will turn upon itself for a time. Let a disgraced fraud continue to lead the nation, while the people decide whether he will be replaced by Sharons untested protege or by a failed ghost from the past. |
