I don`t know enough about the precise situation and personalities to see any other solution for her.
The disadvantage of the American two-party system, is that anyone who is not relatively moderate has (in the long run) no representation.
The advantage of the Parliamentary system is that any crackpot, one issue group which is sufficiently large or organized can have at least a seat.
The advantage of the US system is that the separation of powers, and the need for both parties to moderate their positions, the government can function when the power balance is quite close.
The disadvantage of the Parliamentary system is that one must assemble a working coalition from often ill-fitting or malfunctioning parts. |
