I understand Minister Herzog, considering the the experiences of his late grandfather and namesake Chief Rabbi Isaac Halevy Herzog, with Pius XII. However, the internal considerations of the Vatican are none of our business.
We could sulk and curse the Vatican under our breath, but publicly ntervention in the religious affairs of another religion is reprehensible. It is about time that all these "Yiddilach", realealized tht there are limitations to what we can do in this world, and interfering in the affairs of another religion is not one of them. Doing so, could bring much more serious repricussions on Jews than keeping quiet.
