Burston, get real! You`re just like Tom Friedman -- expecting people to act in a reasonable fashion. It`s just not going to happen. Just look at some of the people responding to this article -- check out the "Devout Republican" from Atlanta, who excoriates Obama for simply reading a book written by the, well respected (and Muslim) editor of Newsweek. This is the kind of know-nothingism which Palin represents and to which she subscribes. There is no reason to expect anything better of her in the future, no matter how reasonable or logical that may appear to you. These people are ignorant bigots, and your hoping that they will change their stripes is an exercise in futility.
Obama, if anything, is way too mild. The real solution for the Palins of this world is the ushering in of a Liberal Thermidor, presided over by a 21st Century Robespierre. |
