| These folks are not backwoods Ozark bumpkins in bib overalls with KKK membership cards. Chesterfield is one of the highest income communities in the state, an elite suburb that is home to the worldwide research headquarters of the giant and respected Monsanto Company - some perpetrators and victims alike were likely the 12-year old kids of Monsanto professionals. It is sickening that this happens in such a fine community, even in jest (even noting that 6th graders are not the best judges of what is in good taste). This is a major failure of the parents and the school officials. You can bet that the company, by far Chesterfield`s largest employer, will weigh in on this; they have enormous influence there, and they should be using it. And "Director, Monsanto Chesterfield Research Center" is a good starting point to address protest letters - they are the folks who can make things happen. They know that if they don`t, they are sending a message to their employees and customers alike. |
