For almost the first time, I find myself disagreeing with much of your piece. If they lose this election, and I believe they will, Sarah Palin is not what the Republicans have left, she is what they must purge.
I do not buy her homespun homilies, catchphrases, winks or nods. Her public persona is entirely a creation of the perceived political climate, engineered first by her own ambition and lately by McCain, Rove et al.
This is why she is repelling the intelligent voters - those who want their representatives to be smarter than they - and attracting the catchphrase crowd - those who want their politics in attractively wrapped soundbites. It`s all smoke and mirrors. This woman has no substance and no merit.
The plethora of stories that have emerged about this woman in the last two months should sound alarm bells for anyone who values honesty in their public officials. |
