I recall the time when placing a "BaSaD" on the dining hall menu was forbidden. Whenever it appeared it was wiped off the board. It`s not clear how many soldiers would have objected to the addition, but there must have been bothered some authority at the base. Is that an expression of the B-G Status Quo?
Here and there you hear about officers in the North going out to hunt wild boars and cooking them in the IDF base--is that the status quo, or the sexual harrassment that, Please God, has become a thing of the past.
In the North, once, there were Yeshiva students who wanted to "see what it was like", so one Shabbat they saw what happened for themselves, soldiers on the lawn half naked. Interesting, too, Maj General Stern was accused of "going by the book" too much, as if he was breaking the B_G Status Quo.
At this rate, if the Educational Corps continues to adopt this troubling change who knows, there might even be a Haredi general.
Let`s hear it for B-G`s Status Quo! |
