That`s why I wrote "...remnant supporters of racism in the US". I didn`t claim it was back in the Jim Crow days again, thank goodness.
There`s research out there that says as much as 6% of American voters won`t vote for a black person, no matter what. Depending on where you are in this country, and it is a very large country, some places I suspect are much much higher, others much lower.
But it`s certainly better than back when Strom Thurmond was the height of popularity.
There are still pockets of racism. But its improving, I just hope Obama has the best Secret Service protection ever.
McCain and Palin have scared up some very scary nuts. |
