| Your statement of jesus bringing the sword is taken out of context. It also contradicts the message of the Beatitudes. Jesus certainly, from what we know of him in the synoptics, did not see himself as breaking with his people. Judaism of his day was very diverse with any number of sects that viewed Judaism very differently than what has become normative today. the references to jesus as a magician are polemical, quite late and a reaction to christian statements concerning his messiahship and the jews rejection of his claim. |
