| Today is my darling son`s birthday. He arrived when my wife and I had been married for 17 years. There was no special medical intervention, he just decided to join us. This morning, when I went in to wake him for school, I kissed him as usual, held him close and told him that the past 12 years have been the very happiest in my life. My son is a golden child, always cheerful, always pleasant, bright as a button and with no dark side to him. He is a gift of God, and there isn`t a day when I don`t thank God for his life. I don`t want anything more from this world. I was a very old first-time father, and I had long given up any thought or hope of having children. Then this wonderful thing happened. It taught me that we should never, ever give up hope, never despair. This is the ultimate sin, for we cannot possibly imagine what happiness might lie just round the corner. |
