I agree that they are less usefull than the general public believes, but I beg to differ about their general usefullness.
If they are handed out with a pamphlet stating that they ought to be used with for instance clothing that covers all bare skin, then it is certainly better than nothing.
There are many chemical agents such masks would be helpfull against, such as the prevalent ME gas, which is mustard. They would also help,if all skin is covered, against blood-gas, many nerve-agents and more chiefly, the skin-gas.
It does of course depend upon them not being too old etc., but against un-conventional arms, they are indeed helpfull. And while they would not help against radiation, if used with clothing, they would/could, help against fallout |
