| It was naive in the first place to think that the world had learned any lessons from the Holocaust. Indeed, the only interest of the world was to forget and to re-build. Antisemitism was swept under the rug for a few years, to be swept out again whenever the situation in the world reached a crisis. Good people always make the mistake to think that others are good, too, or at least, that they can be rehabilitated. That was Wiesel`s mistake. However, if we look at human history, very little has progress has been made in the realm of morality. |
