| John, don`t get me wrong, I`m not a fan of the U.S. Democrats, if I would be American, I would most probably call myself an Independent. As an American, I would be conservative on fiscal issues (deficite !!) and immigration, but liberal on foreign policy and social issues. That would proably be kind of a Colin Powell, John Sununu, Dick Lugar or Chuck Hagel "moderate Republican".... And since we are (economically) still doing rather well here in Switzerland, foreign policy is by far the most important issue for me when it comes to the U.S. elections. And there I am much, much closer to Obamas and Powells pragmatic view of the world, than to McCains "neoconservative" doctrin. Believe me, we got more than enough of this over the past 8 years.... Apart from that, those "Robo-calls" by the Republicans are simply pathetic.... ....and therefore Colin Powell was 100 % correct to rebuke those "low-life" tactics. |
