It was then, but the rules have changed. Maybe, if Israel had arisen a few hundrede years ago, it could have become a colonial power. But colonialism (at least in its territorial aspect) is dead by now, and international law is clear on military occupation being a temporary and not a permanent device. And don`t ridicule international law, as some of your colleagues do, because Israel is a signatory to this covenant.

But aside of the legal aspect of the issue, can you tell me what good it would do to Israel to annex a territory with 3-4 million Arabs?
