| It is true that Pius XII did help several Italian Jewish families by giving them shelter within the Vatican. It is also true that millions more could have been saved had Pius spoken out. Speaking out making the situation worse? More likely many Catholic Germans would not have gone along with the Final Solution had Pius condemned it. Hitler himself was a Catholic who used, or misused, his ties with the Church to maintain power. Pius did have the power to stop that. |
