Isreal has been the biggest impediment to getting the Iranians to back down, solely because she reamins at a hostile stance to her Arab neighbors, in her own madness.
The best way to confront Iran has always been to make peace with your Sunni neighbors. Sure, she would have to swallow some bitter pills, but that is how peace is achieved. Isreal cannot win peace through force of arms. They do not have enough boots on the ground. They are no superpower. We have seen how difficult it was for the US in Iraq in that regard. Isrealis need to recognize they need to make peace with their neighbors, which presently have a number of neighbors willing to do so. The Isrealis need to make concessions on the West Bank. On the other side, real relations. The Sunnis are afraid of Shiite influence from Iran. They want to keep them from going nuclear as much as Isreal. But they are on a fence, "enemies" of Isreal but enemies of Iran. |
