It did not `create` Hamas. It merely protected and encouraged it. Hamas was 100% a Palestinian creation. The folly of Begin was much like the folly of Reagan a few years later when he recruited, funded, equipped and trained what eventually became Al Queada. In flying terms it is called `target fixation.` When one becomes so obsessed with destroying a target that one fly`s right into it. Both the Likud and Republicans were obsessed to the extent that they became self-destructive in supporting terrorism. |
