Egypt never annexed Gaza. It treated it as occupied territory under a military governor. The Palestinians were never given Egyptian citizenship.
Nor did Israel annex the Gaza Strip, it did not extend Israeli citizenship to Gazans.
Essentially the legal status of Gaza has been the same under both Egyptian and Israeli control (the short-lived All-Palestine Government was a farce). |
