By Shlomo Shamir : Bronfman: One can be Jewish without believing in 'Biblical' God

Title:The Jewish religion has not (yet) arrived in the 21 th century...

From not allowing mixed marriages to the
ritual of "kosher slaughtering" (without
the use of anesthesia), to the idea that
the Jewish people would always have to be
better than the rest of the world in order
to be "good Jews".....

----there are still a few things in the
Jewish religion, which simply aren`t in
correspondence with todays open minded and
humanistic "Zeitgeist", and a frank discussion
on all those 3 issues could only be to the
benefit of the Jewish people and the Jewish
religion.

P.S. Just that there is no misunderstanding:
I have no problem at all with the ritual of
"kosher slaughtering", if you can guarantee,
that it is done correctly also in big, indus-
trial slaughterhouses. But unfortunately that
seems to be almost impossible, as the animal
abuse scandal in the biggest U.S. "kosher
slaughterhouse", which was documented by PETA,
has shown. By the way, the religion of Islam
does allow the use of anesthesia....
