I was raised in Poland but am not a survivor. Not a single member of my acquaintances or family survived. Jews knew what these "lovers" had in for them. The debate at my good bye dinner was: is it better to be killed by a German nazi or a local peasant. Jews knew what was coming but did not know what to do.
