Dear Mr. Iosevic,

Lithuanian people did not "support the indiscriminate murder of Jews". Many hundreds, perhaps thousands of families hid their neighbours in their homes, risking their lives, later being recognised as Righteous among the Nations (that is more than in Italy, or Germany, or Austria, or Greece, just to give some examples). Many more brought food to the ghettoes, risking being shot by the guards. Those who systematically took part in the murders were tacitly ostracized from the communities.

The tragedy of Lithuanian participation in the Holocaust has been repented many times, including the President of Lithuania officially apologising to the Knesset in 1995.

However, it is true that today, many Lithuanians, who are not at all anti-Semitic, and who are not fully aware what has happened during Shoa and why did it happen, are bewildered by some vociferous tribunes who they fell are trying to push the Government around on groundless claims.
